IMAGES FROM A WALK ON THE BLOUBERG BEACHFRONT

My best friend and I have been meeting regularly to go for a brisk walk along the Blouberg beachfront. We have been doing this for years.

Recently we were joined by other friends. We call it walk and talk.

Sometimes I bring my camera along.

Walking with a photographer with a camera can slow down the entire team. I keep spotting something of interest. A person with their dog or a beautiful landscape shot in the soft, diffused light in the morning when it is cloudy and rain is imminent.

I also require models as I have a special interest in portraits. These are candid shots of walk and talk friends looking effortlessly glamorous first thing in the morning.

Quality of light is important to any photographer and if your clients are amenable, then nothing rivals getting up early to capture beautiful images in the first hour of light after sunrise.

The walk is often the same, but the mood is always different. Some days are overcast and gloomy and some days are bright and spectacular.

Bloubergstrand is the most photogenic in springtime during the flower season.

An image of the flowers in full bloom on the west coast requires the photographer to wait for the sun when the flowers are fully open and in their prime.

These were taken on the flower’s level for more detail while being careful not to cause any damage in the rest of the field.
